Ring ribbons: the essentials
A ring ribbon holds the engagement rings together until it is cut at the söz or nişan. In Turkish it is called nişan kurdelesi or söz kurdelesi. At DUVAM, both ends of the ribbon carry the couple's names and the date, and for the bride there is the matching Bridal Bouquet Ribbon in chiffon.

Who cuts the ring ribbon at the söz or nişan?
Usually an older, respected family member cuts the ribbon once the rings have been put on. Every family does it a little differently.
